Dr. Labella was born and raised in Greenville, MS. He attended Washington School and graduated with honors while actively participating in Varsity Football, Baseball, Track, Cross Country and Swimming while serving as the Student Government President. Dr. Labella’s love of swimming landed him an athletic and academic scholarship to Delta State University in Cleveland, MS, where he was also enrolled in Air Force ROTC. After earning his undergraduate degree in Biology/Chemistry and graduating Cum Laude as well as All-American honors in swimming, he was accepted into the University of Tennessee, Memphis Dental School on a US Air Force Scholarship.
After graduating from UT Dental School, Dr. Labella entered active duty service while completing an Advance Education in General Dentistry One Year Residency at Keesler Air Force Base. Dr. Labella completed a 3 year tour as a general Dentist at Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus MS and a 3 year tour in Aviano Italy while serving as the dental clinic Flight Commander. Dr. Labella was accepted into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Joint Base San Antonio/Wilford Hall Medical Center, TX where he completed his four years of medicine, anesthesia and surgery training. Dr. Labella served as Chief Resident during his last year of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training in addition to serving a Trauma Chief at the University of Texas, Health Science Center in Houston, TX.
Dr. Labella was then stationed at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, as Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery servicing the National Capitol Area including the Pentagon, Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital, Bolling Air Force Base, and at Walter Reed Medical Center and staff with the National Capitol Consortium Oral Surgery Residency Training Program. Dr. Labella successfully challenged his Written and Oral Boards and is now the Federal Diplomat for the House of Delegates for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Labella lastly is stationed in San Antonio where he serves as the Program Director for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department training the next generation of surgeons for the Nation’s Finest Airmen, Soldiers, Sailor and Marines.
Outside of dental clinic and operative room, Dr. Labella spends most of his time with his family or staying active with running, swimming, or triathlons. Dr. Labella’s wife, Alicia, also a Greenville, MS native, is a Physical Therapist specializing in pediatrics, and their two children, Taylor and Carlson, are involved in swimming and other sports.
